Inca Jungle 4 days, Biking

ITINERARY:

Frequency: Every day.

DAY 1.- CUSCO – ABRA DE z MALAGA (BY CAR) – ABRA DE MALAGA – SANTA MARIA (CYCLING)

– Departure: 07:30 hr.
– We will head to “Abra de Malaga” (4350 m.a.s.l) for four hours.
– Descent on bicycles, passing by various ecological floors, from the peak of almost no vegetation to the high jungle with a semi-tropical weather.
– Guided tour of Huamanmarka (archaeological center) later arriving to Santa Maria where we will dine and sleep.

DAY 2.- SANTA MARIA – SANTA TERESA TREK

– Breakfast at 05:00 hrs.
– Departure at 06:00 hrs.
– We will begin the trek along the shore of the river, watching animals belonging to the region such as parrots, hummingbirds, eagles, lizards and a variety of insects; medicinal plants, exotic fruits unique to the region, coca, coffee, cocoa and tea plantations.
– Arrival at Quellomayo at 13:00 hrs. to have lunch and a small break.
– We will retake our trip to get to Cocalmayo by 17:00 hrs. There we’ll find thermal baths to relax in.
– We will then hike to the town of Santa Teresa where we’ll have dinner and sleep.
– Optional: zipline and/or canoeing.

DAY 3.- SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES TREK.

– Departure at 06:00 hrs.
– Hike by the river shore, arriving at the Hydro to have lunch and rest.
– Two-hour hike to Aguas Calientes (dinner and lodging).

DAY 04. – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO.

– Departure at 04:30 hrs.
– Ascent to the citadel for approximately one and a half hours. (1500 Inca steps.)
– Guided 2-hour tour.
– Break for pictures and to rest.
– Descent.
– Return to Cusco (train or bus).
