Salkantay Trek 5 Days
ITINERARY:
- Frequency: Every day.
- Duration: 5 days 4 nights.
DAY 01: CUSCO – CHALLACANCHA – INCA CANAL – HUMANTAY LAKE – SORAYPAMPA.
Pick up: at 05:00 hrs.
Transport:
– Cusco – Mollepata: (Breakfast at approximately 07:00 am.)
– Mollepata – Challacancha: (01 hour).
Hike:
– Challacancha to Soraypampa (03 hours) along the Inca Canal
(lunch).
– Humantay Lake (guided visit).
– Descend to Soraypampa (dinner and sleep).
DAY 02: SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS – WAYRACMACHAY – CHAULLAY.
Breakfast.
Hike:
– Soraypampa to Salkantay Pass (03 hours).
– Descend to Wayracmachay (02 hours) and then lunch.
– Chaullay (03 hours) dinner and sleep in tents.
DAY 03: CHAULLAY – LA PLAYA – AGUAS TERMALES (SANTA TERESA).
Breakfast.
Hike:
– Chaullay – La Playa (5 hours) (lunch).
Transport:
– Bus to Santa Teresa (1 hour) to the camp.
Optional:
– Cocalmayo hot springs (Santa Teresa).
Camp in Santa Teresa (dinner and sleep).
DAY 04: SANTA TERESA – HYDRO – AGUAS CALIENTES.
Breakfast.
Options for going to the Hydro:
– Bus from Santa Teresa to the Hydro.
– 3-hour walk from Santa Teresa to the Hydro.
– Zip line.
Lunch in the Hydro.
Hike:
Hydro to Aguas Calientes (3 hours) (dinner and sleep).
DAY 05: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO.
Breakfast.
Options for going up to Machupicchu:
– Consettur Bus (30 minutes.)
– Hour and a half hike.
Guided visit around the citadel for about 2 hours.
Descent.
Return to Cusco.
– Return Options:
– Train.
– Bus.
