South Valley Cusco
ITINERARY:
SOUTHERN VALLEY: Tipón, Pikillaqta y Andahuaylillas
The tour is everyday from 08:30 – 15:30 hrs.
Tipon:
Approximately 27 km. down the Cusco – Puno road is the archaeological site of Tipon, which has amazing hydraulic engineering with horizontal and vertical canals, staggered terraces where the water coming from the underground flows to said canals to water the platforms of this valley. We can see the fine polishing on the stones, on a slope discovered by modern science.
Pikillacta: Or flea town
18 km. from Cusco city, of which architecture of stone, lime and plaster make up buildings aligned on symmetrical streets, organized in groups: administrative, urban, and defensive.
Andahuaylillas:
Where we will find the famous Sistine Chapel of America which resembles the Chapel of the Vatican Pope, built between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, of which interior is just fascinating, the vaults contain paintings attributed to Diego Quispe Tito of the Cusco School.
