ITINERARY:

Day 01: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata – Atayala Port – Erika Lodge.
– Pick up from hotel.
– Bus transport: Cusco – Huancarani (15 or 20 mins to rest/buy snacks, and use the bathroom).
– Guided tour: Funerary Tower of Ninamarca.
– Walk around the small town of Paucartambo: Enchanting colonial village known for its folkloric traditions (museum of place).
– Lunch
– Once in Acjanaco–: (3560 m.a.s.l) Entry to the National Manu Park.
– Descent: Cloud Forest.
– Sightings: Falcons, insectivorous birds, orioles, monkeys, birds, cock of the rock, spectacled bear (likely).
– Pilcopata: Canoeing classes (1 and a half hours) in the Koñeq and/or Alto Madre de Dios rivers (optional).
– Tree platform walking classes (optional).
– Atayala Port.
– Erika Lodge: Dinner and sleep.
Day 02: Cloud Forest – Pilcopata – Erika Lodge (460 m.a.s.l.).
– Search for the cock of the rock (national bird).
– Breakfast.
– Cloud Forest – Pilcopata: Canoeing (optional) free 1 and a half hours along the Koñeq and/or Alto Madre de Dios rivers.
– Boat: Atalaya Port – Alto Madre de Dios river (700 m.a.s.l.).
– Sighting: Parrots, herons, orioles, vultures, etc.
– Private Reserve: Erika (lodge).
– Hike: Transitional jungle between high and low jungles (paths).
– Optional: Night outing to see tarantulas, snakes, scorpions, amphibians, etc.
– Free option: Tree platform walking.
Day 02: Erika Lodge – Aguas Calientes – Boca Manu (365 m.a.s.l.)
– By boat to Collpa of macaws (possibly sighting of white-eyed, blue- headed).
– Breakfast.
– Navigation: Madre de Dios river – Aguas Calientes Baths (lunch)
– Boca Manu (Birds: skimmers, kingfishers, herons, fly catchers and swallows).
Day 03: Boca Manu – Reserved Zone – Cocha Salvador (395 m.a.s.l.).
– Brief stop: Stop at the vigilance stand to register.
– Navigation: Along the Manu river – Reserved Zone (04 hours) – Cocha Salvador.
– Sightings: Capybaras, roses, macaws, herons, caimans, river turtles,
monkeys, felines (likely).
– Safari camp: 02 nights.
Day 04: Reserved Zone – Cocha Salvador (395 m.a.s.l.).
– Exploration: Cocha Salvador on catamaran.
– Possible sightings: Giant fishing otters that play and swim in the lake, black caiman, hoatzin, and flora.
– Visit: Cocha Otorongo (observation tower, surrounding landscape).
– Optional: Night hike to see the american toad, cornet frog, tree frogs, and a variety of insects.
Dia 05: Reserved Zone – Manu River – Cocha Salvador.
– Exploration: Around the field and Cocha Salvador.
– Sighting: Squirrel monkeys, capuchins and woolly monkeys; silk-cotton giant trees, a variety of butterflies.
– Breakfast.
– Navigation: Manu River, downstream.
– Sighting: Birds, caimans, wild pigs, turtles.
– Arrive at Boca Manu in noon.
– Dinner and sleep at the lodge.
Day 06: Reserved Zone – Madre de Dios High River – Manu river – Erika Lodge.
– Navigation: Upstream Alto Madre de Dios river.
– Sighting: Birds and fauna in general (medicinal plants and trees belonging to the zone).
– Return to Erika Lodge: Dinner and sleep.
Day 07: Erika Lodge – Cusco.
– Navigation: Erika Lodge – Atalaya Port.
– Atalaya Port: Bus to Cusco.
